Ring Alarm
Interop with hardwired smoke detectors. (via Zooz ZEN55)
I live in California where it is mandatory to have interconnected smoke detectors that are either hardwired or have a sealed 10yr battery. I also need to have a monitored fire alarm for my property insurance. I saw that First Alert made a z-Wave Smoke Detector that allegedly interoperated with Ring Alarm - but that has now been recalled and discontinued. I ended up buying Kidde 'smart' hardwired smoke detectors. It seems that there is a 3rd party module available that will connect to the alarm interconnect, and act as a zWave device that talks to home hubs. The product is made by Zooz and is the ZEN55 https://www.getzooz.com/zooz-zen55-dc-signal-sensor/ This seems much more likely to be reliable than the 'Ring Smoke Listener' device. Is there any likelihood that this product will interoperate correctly with a Ring Alarm? If so then I will get rid of my Simplisafe system and switch to a Ring Alarm. Thanks! Paul
