Check mode on alarm unit

I want to be able to check the status or what mode the alarm is in from the unit not my app on the iPhone. It isn’t lit up because it’s on battery. I was pushing the check mark to see the mode and that works but it causes a “pin rejected” info in the app. What’s the way to check the mode from the alarm unit itself?
