Don't understand how Ring Doorbell 2's motion zones work
I have a Ring Doorbell 2, but I really don't understand how the motion zones work. In the app, in the setting of the motion zones, you can see 2 different zones: (please see the attached picture on the right side) A: a running man icon with the lighter blue area. I think-this is for general detections that you usually care about. B: a car icon with the darker blue area. It seems to me that this is for detecting the traffic. That means you don't want to be notified if motion detected. Is my understanding above correct? My problem is that when traffic passes through zone B, I receive motion detection alerts. This is not what I want because I don't care about the traffic on the road. So what's different between Zone A and B? and how to deal with the unwanted traffic notification? Should I tweak the coverage range, making Zone B don't cover the road? PS. I have installed wedge

Hi @Marley\_Ring, Thanks for your response. I am using the Doorbell 2 with Android App (3.21.1); however, I can't find any setting related to "sensitivity". I tried to find some information or screenshot on the Internet, many settings related to "sensitivity" are for Doorbell Elite or the screenshot is from the old Ring App. Or is " **Motion Frequency Controls**" what you mean? In addition, I am curious about that in the App, it shows 2 zones with 2 icons (running man and car) when you want to adjust the motion zone. (please see my attached screenshot in the original post). I found that motion alerts rise no matter motions are detected in zone A or B. If the doorbell detects motions in both 2 zones, what's the difference of those 2 zones? Thank you :smiley:

MOne more question. (the article is probably out-of-date.) The new App provides a new UI to adjust the motion zone. Just like my attached screenshot. Is my understanding correct?

Thank you for sharing these details @marty\_0802! Also, good call on using a wedge kit. When a high traffic area or vehicle roadway is within view, angling the Video Doorbell downwards is the best way to avoid false alerts. Altering your motion sensitivity in settings will also help with this. Additionally, there is a setting called motion frequency that will prevent constant detection in a high traffic area.
