Wired doorbell comparison

I'm asking this here because I'm getting conflicting information from Ring support. I'm looking at a new doorbell and trying to decide between the wired doorbell PLUS & PRO. I understand the differences in features, but I was told by one support rep that the PLUS requires the included power kit to be connected to my home's existing mechanical doorbell chime but that the PRO does not require it. Can anyone with the PRO confirm whether the power kit is required or not to work with your home's mechanical chime?
