  Hi @pbcd! Thank you for sharing your experience with us in detail. As every environment is different, there are a number of solutions available for tailoring your Ring device to your home. You've already explored different angles, or point of view, for lens adjustment, and an excellent call on doing so! I recommend looking into adding light to the area to see if this allows for a more favorable lens adjustment during the night time. Feel free to share a video example, and I'll be happy to confirm further the best next steps! :)

  Thank you very much for your reply. I believe adding lighting to the area defeats the benefit of having a camera with night vision. Also it would be impractical for me to add lighting. It does not seem exceptable that a person is expected to add lighting to every camera viewing area where there is very low or no ambient light. It would also seem unexecptable to require doorbell placement away from any nearby walls. I have two cheap cameras (CTvision - approx $65) that are located "nearby" the Ring door bell that provides very acceptable night vision. Since Ring products are of high quality and design I would think that my doorbell might be defective.

  Try placing a piece of black electrical tape over the infrared emitters on that side of the camera (facing the wall). While not ideal, you can position it just so the light that would hit the wall is blocked and the rest of the image reverts to normal exposure. It's better than trying to mirror coat the wall.

  I have a similar sounding issue with a Ring 3 doorbell. Did you resolve this? Doorbell is angled away from the wall, but at night, all I can see is the wall. Tried adding black electrical tape to where I think the infrared emitter is on the wall side, but see no improvement. Any ideas?

  I have the same problem with Ring 3 Doorbell. Night vision very poor as white wall at 90 degrees to porch door . Camera picks up the wall on around a third of the right side, making the left side too dark. Not what I expected from what is supposed to be a high quality product. Why no zone setting for night vision?

  I have just purchased a Ring doorbell 3 and night vision not working on it. Mounted on a flat wall and nothing around it but all I can see is car lights going by now and again. I bought it to catch any intruders at night so defeats the object of having one really! Seems to be many people with the same problems but as yet I have not seen a cure posted anywhere.

  Here is a screen shot from my video doorbell pro 2 there are no walls but the infrared does reflect off of the railing. I had the pro version and it didnt give mine any issues with the darkness or range and it was hung in the same spot as this one is.
