Video door bell motion detection

I am considering buying a video door bell for an office door. I am concerned that the activity in the hallway outside the office door will continually activate the motion detection. Can I turn off the motion detection and simply respond to a notification when someone rings the doorbell? Thanks. Joe

Hi @JJK. While you would be unable to turn off the motion detection from a stand alone setting, you can turn off the motion alerts. Therefore, it will still be recording the motion events as they happen, but you won't be alerts of it every time on your phone. Although, you could utilize our new [Modes](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036107792-Control-All-your-Ring-Cameras-with-Modes) feature, have the Doorbell be "Disarmed" and therefore this would stop all motion recording this way. Therefore, when you guys leave the office and would like the motion recordings to pick back up, you can go into "Away" and it will continue to record. Hope this helps!
