Solar door Mount - How can I tell it is charging

troubleshooting

Had the ring door bell Gen 2 , and purchased the solar backing plate . its in a very sunny location. The device health says it is connected  but the battery life is reducing by 1% a day  currently at 95%. Given the weather is very sunny  I would have thought the  the solar would maintain the battery life at this time of year. I can see it is connected but can't see that it is charging  the door bell has very little use  maybe once our twice a day  How can I tell it is working and not faulty ?

Hi @user_1adf6e. Ring Solar Panels and Solar Chargers provide a trickle charge, which can help extend the amount of time between manual charges on the battery. This trickle charge isn't as quick as when you charge the battery manually, so it is possible for the battery to still drain when connected. Additionally, the Solar Charger requires several hours of direct sunlight per day to provide that trickle charge. If you have a covered porch or entryway, this would prevent the Solar Charger from receiving direct sunlight, so it would not perform as effectively.

My doorbell Gen 20 is losing 0.5% per day over a 2 week period , it is in constant sunshine when the sun is out  from 1pm until sunset. It has never increased in the % power in the battery  , only decreased . I still do not know how to tell if it is working other than it is connected. Given the above circumstances is the rate of loss of charged slowed ? what is the power loss per day  without a solar back panel greater than 0.5%  per day. Given the amount of units you have out now you should be able to offer guidance on this

Hi @user_1adf6e. If your Doorbell has not trickle charged over a two-week period, I recommend trying these additional troubleshooting steps:   - Reboot your Doorbell using the Ring app.   - Verify the Panel is connected correctly to your Doorbell.   We also have this Help Center page with other steps you can try. If you have tried these steps and are still having this concern, give our support team a call for further assistance.
