Ring doorbell connecting to existing chime
hardwired-battery-video-doorbell
Hi, I have recently purchased a ring doorbell (I have it all working which is good) but I have one issue with connection to my existing chime. I have swapped over both connections to the back of the doorbell with no success. I have seen some videos which suggest you need a diode between the screws in order for this to work ? Is this the case The model i have is ring 2nd gen Many thanks

Glad you asked, @Aalliedassault! For the Video Doorbell 2020 release (2nd gen), there is no diode needed, even if using a digital chime kit. I recommend also checking our [chime compatibility list](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053138112-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2nd-generation-Chime-Kit-Compatibility-List), to ensure the model chime kit being used is indeed compatible. I hope this helps! :)
