Ring Doorbell 2 does not support my WiFi provider
Hello! I have a ring doorbell 2nd generation since January of this year. This morning at 10 AM it stopped recording and sending me motion notifications. When I tried to reboot the device, it did not allow me to connect to any Wi-Fi networks. Our community internet is controlled by Smartaira, one is regular and the other is 2.4 GHZ. I tried several times to connect to both, but they did not work. My Internet provider added the Mac address to the backend, try again, did not connect. I tried to connect the ring to a hotspot and that worked. I called my Internet provider again which is when they told me the s 2nd generation doorbell is not able to work with their Wi-Fi. I’m confused since l’ve been using this device on the current Wi-Fi since January. Internet provider said they have made no changes recently, and that the 2nd generation doorbell is just not compatible. Is this true and are there any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Hi @user82518. There are no internet service providers that we would say Ring devices are not compatible with. It can be difficult to connect devices to community WiFi because of the settings they could have, preventing Ring devices from connecting, and you may not be able to make the changes needed to get the devices to connect. We have this Help Center page with the settings a router requires in order for a Ring device to operate correctly. I would recommend asking your internet service provider to see if any of these settings need to be adjusted.
