Ring Doorbell 1st gen setting off hardwired digital chime on motion
I've had my Ring doorbell for almost 2 years now, and it had been working great up until a month or two ago. About 1/4 to 1/2 of the time the doorbell detects motion, it will also ring the hardwired chime I have inside. It only shows up as motion in the app, and not a ring, so it shouldn't be a stuck button or anything. I've tried replacing the diode, to no avail. I'm not sure what else to try either, as it doesn't make sense why motion would set off the chime without the button being pressed. I'm wondering if the doorbell is pulling extra power when it detects motion and that is setting off the chime somehow, but I would have no idea how to remedy that. Please help! Thanks,Zach

I’m having the same issue. It started a couple of months ago, random doorbell chime but no history and no one at the door when we check. It happens at random hours and sometimes late at night. Strange. We had no issues prior.

Hi neighbors! There are a few variables that may be causing this that you can check. First, make sure your chime kit is compatible with the Video Doorbell. You can check the compatibility list in our Help Center Article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/210644123-Ring-Video-Doorbell-1st-generation-Chime-Kit-Compatibility-List). After verifying that the chime kit is compatible, you can also check the wiring to make sure there are no loose or fraying wires between the Doorbell and the chime kit. If everything looks good there, I'd suggest a reset of the Doorbell. You can reset the Doorbell by holding down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. After that's done, walk through a new setup in the Ring App using the steps under Set Up a Device.if this concern still persists after these troubleshooting steps, then it may be best to reach out to our support team to have them take a closer look. You can give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). I bit the bullet and bought a new 2020 Ring Doorbell (the one without the contacts on the baseplate and doesn't need a diode), and so far it seems to not have the same issue, knock on wood.Resetting the old one definitely didn't help. Using it as a camera for the front of my garage now, so at least I'll still get some use out of it!

Mine is doing the same. It did it a few times right after the initial installation, but has worked flawlessly until about a month ago. It has done it almost every night/ morning this week. It’s really alarming when it causes the chime to ring at 2,3, or 4am. Hopefully someone has a solution.
