Sometimes I have someone at my door, right in front of the doorbell and it doesn’t pick them up. Yet most other times it detects someone as far away as in the street

Hi @user64804. You may need to adjust your Motion Zones and other motion settings to better focus on the area in front of your door. We have a lot of information on using Motion Zones and editing your motion settings [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/210243483-Using-Camera-Motion-Zones). If you have a battery powered Doorbell, you'll also have access to the [Motion Frequency](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Optimizing-Motion-Alerts-with-Motion-Frequency) setting to further refine your motion detection. Lastly, ensure your Ring Doorbell is not mounted too high. If you have steps leading up to your front door, you may need to use a Wedge Kit to angle the view down slightly so the Doorbell is less focused on the street and more focused on your front porch area. If you need more in-depth troubleshooting assistance with your Doorbell's settings, feel free to give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here.](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Contact-Us) If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.
