I have a 2nd generation Ring video doorbell that I have hardwired into the connections from my wired doorbell. The Ring would randomly set off the doorbell repeatedly, usually at 2-3AM. There was no motion or indications on the app of why this happened. The last straw was the doorbell going off continuously at 3AM, until I threw the circuit breaker and uninstalled it to get it to stop. In a last ditch effort to keep the Ring, can anyone give some feedback on if the doorbell is compatible with the chime? A photo of the chime is attached.

Hi @jonesamyk. Hardwiring the Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) requires a transformer meeting these power requirements: 8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA. We have a chime kit compatibility list for the Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) here. For Nicor, the compatible mechanical chime kits are the following models: XXXX, XXXX, 18002LRD, 18002LRT. Based on the picture you shared, this chime kit doesn’t look like it is compatible with the Doorbell (2nd Generation), which is likely why you had the chime kit ringing repeatedly and continuously, as power was not being distributed along the circuit properly. You can either bypass the chime kit altogether by removing it from the doorbell circuit, or you can replace it with a compatible chime kit from the article I shared above. If you choose to remove the chime kit, you can use a Ring Chime or a compatible Alexa device to receive audible alerts when someone rings the Doorbell.
