Ring Video Doorbell
Random rings from mechanical doorbell
Recently, I've been getting "phantom/random" rings from my manual doorbell , when no one has pushed the button on my Ring Door Bell Pro. These "rings" do not show up as events on my Pro doorbell and they seem to happen at random. Anyone else experience these issues? Again , my old hardwired doorbell goes off randomly ( no button push ) . No video , or alert . I also have a chime it does not ring unless the button is pushed

THi @chesszz. Happy to chime in for Caitlyn. I would inspect the actual button. If there is excessive wear, this could be causing the doorbell to be pressed, even when there is no one around. A way to verify this, is to check your History and see if you are getting alerts for the button push. If you are, please reach out to our support team for the next best steps. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. I have a Ring Video Doorbell Elite that has been doing the same for quite some time now. Random, what I call “half rings” at random times day and night. Sometimes it happens if I open and close my cabinet that houses my electronics so I wonder if it disconnects from my wifi and that’s when it “rings”. I would love to make this ghostly event stop. I fear it’s electrical and my house is going to burn down.

CHi @Nikki23. Your safety is definitely one of our top priorities. Have you reached out to our support team about this concern yet? If you haven't, I would recommend doing so, or even consulting a qualified electrician to take a look at the wiring and ensure everything looks safe. You can give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406).

Hi @angst1974. First, please verify if the chime kit is in our compatible list [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/209028546-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Pro-Chime-Kit-Compatibility-List). If the chime kit is compatible, please try resetting the device and reconnecting it for me to see if it helps! For the reset, you will press and hold the setup button for 20 seconds. For the reconnection after, go into the Main Menu > Devices > Doorbell > Device Health > Change or Reconnect Wifi Network. From here, you will go through another setup of the device, and let me know if it’s working as it should after the fact! :)
