No video at night

So, it has come to my attention that the Ring Doorbell Video Camera is going to require a certain amount of light to operate at night. My camera shows when people are walking by my apartment on my Echo 8 ONLY during the day. Come the night time it’s a no go. Is this normal for this device? I certainly hope not, for I more concern for people walking by apartment at night than during the day.
