Ring Video Doorbell
Doorbell not working at night
I’ve had my ring doorbell 6/7 months now. All was working fine until around 4 weeks ago. It has stopped detecting at night. It still detects motion, as the red lights either side of the actual doorbell come on but no alert to mine or my wife’s phone. I’ve rang customer service and went through some troubleshooting, but as they close at 7pm , and it’s after that when it stops working so can’t go through it with them whilst they are open. Any ideas. Thank you

Hi. The mode I have set is home mode. My app is on iPhone 11 Pro Max. And my app is 5.54.1. The clocks in the uk have gone back now from British summer time and my doorbell seems to have changed times when it’s not picking up. And I’ve noticed that if you walk past the doorbell at a slower pace it picks up. Which isn’t ideal.

THi @Hutchy2474. Try disabling Modes for Cameras and then test how your Doorbell behaves. If it works as intended, you may need to adjust your Mode Settings. If this doesn't work, you'll have to follow up with our support team to look into this further. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). On your instructions I tried this and still the same. Although hit and miss , sometimes it did pick up. Now as for speaking with the ring team, I have done this and they went through troubleshooting with me. Which worked but it was light outside. And as they close at 7pm, when it’s dark I don’t thin on there is anything else aside from the information you provided. I will take it back to the shop where I bought it as it is quite clearly either a faulty unit, or a flaw in ring software as I have read numerous posts with the same topic.

HStill not working. Even worse now. The infrared lights that come on when motion is detected, don’t stay on for as long as they did. I am taking it back to the store I bought it from this weekend

I had the same problem for months and months. After working 24/7 for months after installing it the doorbell camera would stop recording around midnight and only become active again around 7am. I messed around with every conceivable setting but nothing changed. Yesterday I removed the doorbell to recharge it and accidentally pressed the rubbery brown rest button which had the effect of disconnecting it from my home camera network. After recharging it fully I simply scanned the QR code on the back of the doorbell , reconnected it to the home network via the app and hey presto problem resolved and the camera detected a number of people ( innocently ) passing by the house during the night. Hopefully this works for you as it is frustrating when it happens.

Hi @Hutchy2474. Do you have [Modes for Cameras](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036107792-Control-All-of-Your-Ring-Devices-with-Modes) enabled? Are there any [schedules](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/218380863-Scheduling-Times-When-You-Don-t-Want-to-Receive-Motion-Alerts-) in place? What type of phone do you have and what version on the Ring app is installed?
