Ring Video Doorbell
Doorbell 3 disconnects then won’t even see my network to reconnect
I had an earlier Doorbell 3 which kept dropping connection but you could reconnect after 2 if 3 attempts. Shortly after this exceeded its support date the frequency got worse & it was much harder to reconnect it. After a number of wasted calls it was suggested that the newer model with dual 2.4/5ghz wifi connectivity would solve the problem. It did, for a couple of days! Now it has disconnected and no matter what I do it can’t even ‘see’ my network when I try to reconnect it. It’s the only device in the house that I’ve had any issues with so I know it’s not the network- App shows the RSSI 40 (green). Currently I have an expensive door chime you can’t even hear in most of the house. HELP!?

Hi @userNobby. I typically recommend using a 2.4GHz wifi connection, as it offers a farther effective range than 5.0GHz wifi. Given that most people are likely to have their routers located in a central location of their home, this might not be close enough to the front door to support a stable 5.0GHz connection through various walls and doors. I also suggest having the Doorbell within about 20 to 25 feet at most from the router. Any farther than that and you might experience some instability with the connection. With that said, you can try creating a guest network on your router that is only 2.4GHz for your Video Doorbell to connect to. Monitor what the [RSSI](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Understanding-RSSI-and-Wifi-Signal-Strength) looks like to see if the connection is stable. If not, you can try fully resetting the Doorbell by holding down the setup button underneath the faceplate for at least 20 seconds. After that's done, complete a new setup in the Ring app using the steps under Set Up a Device. Should the connectivity concerns persist despite the troubleshooting steps I recommended, it would be best to follow up with our support team and potentially speak with advanced support to look into this further.
