Hi, My doorbell won't charge. It was minus 2 on Saturday so I followed instructions and left it in the house to get up to room temp and still nothing. The cable works as I use it to charge other things. The doorbell is 3yrs old. Anyone else had this? Thanks,

Hi @DaveAsh. Plug the Doorbell's battery in to charge for at least 8 hours using the provided charging cable. Make sure it's plugged into a standard power outlet as well. Then attempt to reset the Doorbell by holding down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. If the Doorbell is unresponsive after the reset, please follow up with our [support team](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Contact-Us) for further assistance. After searching all over the internet for at least a year and starting to believe all of the conspiracy theories that Ring had intentionally caused the problem with directives in their auto firmware updates, I have finally discovered that the problem is a hardware problem.  A spring loaded contact post on the panel board has weakened and is not coming in contact with the power supply feeds from your hardwiring.  It takes a little DIY capability but it can be easily fixed if you have a soldering iron and can turn screws.  See this post on REDDIT that was 2 years old.  https://www.reddit.com/r/Ring/comments/vke9ym/ring_doorbell_2_hardwired_but_shows_battery_solved/ I guess I just never searched google with the exact string of words necessary to find the post, as I've been searching for a long time.  I did as he directed and my problem was fixed!  My battery is now charging from the hardwiring, the app shows I am hardwired, and my existing doorbell inside my home is ringing again.  Kuddos to my savior on Reddit!  Please pass the word in your circles!

I can confirm that this fix works. I’ve just done it with mine and at last my app reports as hardwired again. For some reason the contact points must have been only just connecting (bad design in my opinion) and over time have separated (maybe due to temperature swings?). Anywa, a blob of solder on the brass connector and voila, problem solved.
