Ring Video Doorbell
Connection
We have purchased a Ring 3 to use as a temporary video doorbell for our school whilst our main entrance is undergoing construction work. The video doorbell is to connect to the school office which has been temporarily relocated and is not now near the main entrance. The school's IT person is having issues connecting the device and has asked the following questions: 1) what are the destination IP ranges required, and are these exclusively assigned to Ring? 2) are Ring happy for a school entity to use their software?

[@ipswichboy](https://community.ring.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/92610) , **CORRECTION** : I gave you a bit of incorrect information in my previous post. The "Ring Video Doorbell 3" model uses Internet Wi-Fi and it is 2.4GHz only. The "Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus" model uses Internet Wi-Fi and it is 2.4GHz and 5 GHz dual-band connectivity. Still, the Ring Video Doorbell 3 requires a minimum speed of 2 Mbps upload and download at the mounting location of the Ring device. :)

Hello @ipswichboy , The Ring Video Doorbell 3 uses Internet Wi-Fi and it is 2.4GHz and 5 GHz dual-band connectivity. But the Wi-Fi signal needs to be strong enough and fast enough for it to work properly. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 requires a minimum speed of 2 Mbps upload and download at the mounting location of the Ring device. [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040414012-Ring-Video-Doorbell-3-Information](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040414012-Ring-Video-Doorbell-3-Information) Also, you will always have the "Live View" ability and a few other features, but if you need to store past videos, you'll also need to purchase a Ring Protection Plan (Basic or Plus) after your one-month free trial period expires. Homeowners and businesses use Ring Video devices, so I imagine there is not a problem for your school use. You can find more online information at the Ring support page: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us) I hope this information helps you :)
