Glad you asked @Mary3! The wiring from your existing doorbell will charge the battery in the Ring Video Doorbell 2, so with normal use, your battery will stay charged. Keep in mind there are several factors to consider for optimal battery charge duration, as it is still operated primarily by the battery while receiving a charge from the wires. Check out our [Community post about battery drain](https://community.ring.com/t5/General-Questions/Device-Tips-Battery-Draining-Quickly/m-p/1136#M52) for tips on optimizing battery performance. I recommend also checking the power supply, or transformer, to ensure it provides a voltage of 8 volts AC and 24 volts AC. I hope this helps! :)
