Charging Battery on Hardwired 2nd Gen

We had a Ring Doorbell install last year. It’s hardwired, but also has a battery. The unit has stopped working, and Ring customer service said I need to take the unit off and charge the battery. I was hoping that would not be an issue with it being hardwired, but apparently not. I am wondering if I should buy a different model with the removal battery pack? Or isn’t it a big deal to remove a hardwired unit? Thanks!
