Cars outside motion zone now triggering alerts
I live close to a street that gets a fair bit of traffic. Our house is a double, and we have 2 Ring Doorbells (2) installed by each front door. In the past couple days, we started getting motion alerts for every single car that passes. Our motion detection is on the lowest/closest setting possible, reaching just to the edge of our porch nowhere near the street. The porch is not very high, but I installed the wedge mounts anyway. This happens day and night and is getting really annoying. Also a high crime area, so turning off the alerts would defeat the purpose of having them. I have adjusted the settings multiple times with no luck.

I'm having the same problem, no matter how i adjust the motion zones, every car sets off an alert, but people walking dogs on the sidewalk don't. I used to have a Doorbell Pro, and motion zones worked very well on that device.

SI hoped that the people detection setting would help, but I still get alerts for every single passing car even though no people are detected. Not sure what else to try. Wish this problem had presented before the return window closed.

SI too have the same problem. I have a peephole and cars trigger it. Plus, my battery drains every two days. Motion as low as possible. I'm thinking, bad design.

MHi neighbors! People only mode is a great way to control your motion alerts. We are always working to provide more features and improve on existing ones, and so we will certainly share your feedback with the team! Keep in mind this feature operates differently depending on device type (battery powered vs hardwired). There are also times when a reflection, such as lights or reflection from vehicles, might still trigger your motion to alert. That and more is described in this [help center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Alert-Notifications-with-People-Only-Mode). I hope this helps! :)

I have the same problem. The customer support person said it's the heat from the cars triggering it.....as if that should be ok. My zone is only within 3 feet of the front door but still triggers with every car going by. This device is ridiculous.

I’m having the same issue. Even everything turned super low and motion zones only on my porch. I get no notification of delivery people at my door but every single car day and night. I’m about done with the Ring doorbell. I get 4-5 alerts per car now so I have 200+ alerts throughout the day.

I'm having the same issue and people only mode is only available to those who sign up for the plan.

Hey @strochthecasbah! You've certainly taken all the proper steps to fine-tune the motion detection in that environment. Great call on using a wedge piece! Other than trial and error with settings, I recommend exploring the addition of another [Wedge](https://shop.ring.com/collections/accessories/products/wedge-kit-for-video-doorbell-2). As vehicles create a large heat signature they can sometimes be detected. Adding an additional angle or Wedge will help to avoid the roadway, especially from a raised porch surface. Check out our [Community post](https://community.ring.com/t5/Video-Doorbells/How-it-Works-Video-Doorbell-and-Video-Doorbell-2-Coverage/m-p/5003) on how this motion works for a visual on the range of detection. I hope this helps! :)
