Ring Video Doorbell
Battery drain due to snapshot capture
After the recent app update, the battery life of my Ring video doorbell 2 dropped from 2 weeks to 3 days. Replacing the battery with a spare one doesn't help. The app is suggesting me to turn off the snapshot capture feature, due to its high battery usage. However, when I go to the settings menu, this feature can't be turned off, and there's a warning that says "Snapshot Capture requires a Ring Protect subscription". Why can't I turn this feature off without a subscription?

@Tom\_Ring thanks for the reply. The snapshot capture is stuck in the "On" state, despite not having the Ring Protect Plan. Please refer to the attached screenshot.

THi @allenyu. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I would try to remove the Ring app from your phone, turn your phone off and on, and then reinstall the Ring app. Then, login to the Ring app and see if this has changed the Snapshot Capture status. If it hasn't, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. If you are outside of the US, please read our response to COVID-19 [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360041597471) to see how to contact support.

Hi @allenyu.The Snapshot feature is only available for those who are subscribed to the Ring Protect Plan. If you are not subscribed, or on a trial, then you cannot use the Snapshot feature. To learn more about this, read this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034355652). If you're battery is draining quickly, it could be due to excessive events. Going over your Motion Settings as explained in this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022462472-Utilizing-Motion-Detection-with-your-Ring-Battery-Devices) could increase your battery life. If you are still having battery issues after these adjustment, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://slack-redir.net/link?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.ring.com%2Fhc%2Fen-us%2Farticles%2F213608406).
