Ring Video Doorbell
2nd gen doorbell misses motion/people/events
My Ring doorbell (2nd gen) doesn't always capture events, such as people on my porch. One afternoon recently it captured the mailman delivering mail on my porch, then captured me getting the mail off front porch, and then about 1-2 minutes later did not capture three teenage boys trying to kick my door in. Today it did not capture an amazon delivery person who came up to porch and left a package. But it has captured other things today. I don't think it's a wifi issue as other devices are not getting kicked off the wifi. I work from home and do not have issues with my work computer on the wifi. I have a hard wired ring doorbell (2nd gen) at my front door, about 18 month old, professionally installed. Signal strength RSSI-61, runs on my wifi. Frustrating that it is unreliable to capture events on porch, and didn't capture a violent incident that I needed. Also when it does record events, it starts too late. I have a lead walk of sidewalk leading up to my porch and it never records people walking up the leadwalk, the recordings start once they're close to door. But sometimes it records what really is nothing - cars driving by, people on sidewalk (not my lead walk) walking dogs, etc. but not coming up to house. So it does recognize motion farther away. I have no idea why it would capture some events/motion and not others. When I go to see the footage from that time of the teens kicking the door, nothing is there. It only records events/motion, it doesn't just always record everything. I have another ring camera out back (not doorbell) that seems to record 24hr day/nonstop. On the desktop and in app I cannot find any settings to adjust for the Front doorbell. When I go to Front door "device settings" my only options are notification settings and general settings. None of those settings includes any motion sensitivity, etc. Thoughts? Thanks.
