Spotlight cam alerts

We got a spotlight cam for Christmas and it is picking up traffic from the street but not our car when we pull out of the gargage or into the driveway. Last night we had an old Christmas tree sitting by the garbage can to be taken away and someone took it during the night, which is fine except our Ring camera did not pick it up.
