Ring Stick Up Cam - battery stuck - no quick release about it!
Has anyone else received brand new stick up battery cameras directly from Ring that are nearly impossible to remove the batteries from without pliers? I purchased two 2nd Gen Stick Up Cam Battery cameras (one white one black) in late October 2024. Upon removing the battery for the first time to put in a fresh one, I noticed that both camera’s batteries do not come out with ease. I literally have to use pliers to pull them out by securing both the silver “quick release” button & the opposite side of the battery in the pliers, then pull them out with force. I have solar panels for these cameras as well, but with it being winter, my solar panels sometimes don’t keep the batteries charged. I contacted customer service about this & they replaced the white one of the two I purchased. The replacement I received has the same exact problem. I have another 2nd gen stick up cam battery in white that I purchased in 2022 & the battery can be easily removed, no problem. It really is quick to release & replace. I put the cameras from 2022 & 2024 side by side, and although they are supposedly both 2nd gen, my older 2022 stick up is bigger. Not by much, but it is definitely bigger. All of my cameras were purchased directly from Ring’s website. I don’t understand the change in size & the lack of “quick release” in regards to the battery. I have to fully take my newer stickup cams off of their mounts to get in sure-footed position to pull the batteries out with pliers. I live in the southeastern US & it doesn’t get really cold here that often, so this has nothing to do with extreme temperatures. The first time I tried to change out a battery in these was well before it ever got below 65 degrees outside. After being a loyal Ring customer for 10 years or more, it is my opinion that something is amiss with the quality and/or manufacturing of Ring’s products for the last 2 years, maybe more. Specifically, I’ve had immediate trouble with these new stick ups & a new wired floodlight plus camera. My older 1st gen wired floodlight cam had no problems for 5 years. I decided to purchase a new one for another location on my home, & there have been problems with the lights coming on randomly from the beginning, with no resolve on that either (after contacting & troubleshooting with customer support three times now). I am very dissatisfied in the quality of these newly-purchased products, as well as the quality of customer support & their inability to resolve my issues
