Ring Floodlight Camera (Hard wired)
hardwired-security-cameras

Hello and thanks for your time. I have 2 floodlight cameras, both hard wired and not part of a group. About 2 months ago, both started turning on the flood lights at random times during the day and stay on. there is no schedule set for any of my floodlights or ring doorbells. Back to the Floodlight Cameras... When I go to the IoS App, the floodlight status indicates it is off on both. the only way to turn off the lights is to kill the power or go to the individual floodlight in the app (...) , hit the LIGHT button (which is off) to on, then off. The lights go off. Keep in mind the overall mode during the day is Disarmed. Add't strange occurences: The floodlight sensitivity seems to be not working correctly. for examply, at night with the Mode set to HOME, the floodlights go on with no breeze, no movement - and I sat in my one room and watched it. Everything was still - and the light came on. In fact, both floodlights do this. My doorbells are working normally.

Hi @MountainGuyz.  Rest assured that our team is investigating and working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, try to set the light brightness to any level below max to see if it helps.

We have the same problem for 4 of our flood light cameras. We got them in June 2024. It worked well the first few months only.

Justin: tried lowing the Light brightness from max on both floodlights. No difference. One interesting setting: With all devices set to DISARM from HOME, both floodlights Motion Alerts and Light settings stay on. I have to manually go into settings and manually turn off LIGHTS, MOTION DETECTION and MOTION ALERTS. Trying to disable the Motion Alerts on the Floodcam MOTION ALERTS / LIGHT / SIREN switches (icons) will not disable the motion alerts. Even with this manual setting of Motion Detection and Motion Alerts and Lights, the floodlights come on and off with no motion - and this occurs both night and day. An important item to note: I have reset both floodlights by holding the reset button on top of the floodlight for 30 seconds (actually 1 minute), and deleted the floodlight profile on the mobile app, then re installed. The issue continues to occur

user_ada516 - Yes, mine is going on 16 months. Tried the support angle - what a disaster. And they wonder why so many are moving to competition options..

There was a botched firmware update released for these camera/floodlight devices that has caused this issue. Along with the lights coming on at random and staying on, the software app isn't updated as to the light status (on/off). This again is a firmware issue, as clearly there are parts of the firmware that are not being status updated when the lights come on, thus the software app (ie IOS app) will not be able to "know" when the lights are on or off by simply checking in the app. In my case (multiple "Floodlight Cam Wired Plus"), the firmware updates that introduced these bugs were either from the September 19/2024 or October 16/2024 updates. Take your pick as to the culprit... After 6-7 months of this issue being in place, it's pretty clear that this is a low priority for Ring to fix - if, in fact, they will even fix it at this point. Initially, I had set a schedule to just keep the lights off between the dark hours. But they would come on during the day and stay on until the schedule turned them off at night, so now I just disabled the light "feature" entirely on these cameras. The value of the floodlight cameras has at least been halved since "half" of the features of this camera no longer work. After half a year plus, it would seem in Ring's eyes this is a "your problem" not a "my problem"...

Mine has been doing this for months. The Health Check seems to trigger it. Disabling the Health Check would probably resolve it for me, but unable to do it.
