Night Vision image on floodlight looks like everything is covered in snow

Installed the floodlight plus last week - the first evening I checked the image and did a double take because it looked light it had snowed...the grass the bushes everything appeared to be covered in snow. Then I checked the outside temp and it was 55 degrees F. This distored image appears only at night with or without the floodlights being on. This doesn't seem to be normal - or is it?
