Dead indoor camera

I was setting up a new indoor camera and all was going well ... it would stream video without any problem. The firmware download/install began and then the unit seemed to freeze. I never moved my phone more than a few feet away during the download. It was dead ... no video, no light, nothing. Now it's bricked. No blue light, nothing. I tried pressing the button on top. Nothing. I held the button in for 30 seconds. Nothing. I removed the camera from my network and tried to srat the activation again. Didn't work. It would seem something went wrong during the firmware update and now the camera is deceased. Is there a way to reset the camera to factory default ? It was working fine before the aborted firmware update. Or is it just fried? Thanks in advance.

Hi @itguysme. Holding the setup button down for 20 seconds does reset the Indoor Cam. It sounds like you have already done this. If it is completely unresponsive, you can contact our support team to get you taken care of. I had the same issue with 3 different cameras. I bought 3 and got them yesterday, one was able to complete the firmware update or setup without bricking. Called Ring support and nothing could be done. Went to Amazon and they sent me 2 new ones today. The first one I just tried to set up and it is doing the same thing. Showing offline and not responding to anything. Miguel

Had the same issue as well. Was able to set up a new indoor cam, but it failed to update. Now it won't turn back on. I just ordered a replacement. Hope the new one won't have the same issue.

I experienced the same problem with my indoor cam which I just setup setup. Plugged it in, scanned the code, gave it a name, it joined my network, got an intitial capture of my location, said it was going to update and that could take 15 minutes and the light would continue to blink until the update was done. Light blinked about 2 times and was out. I left it about 30 minutes, and it showed as offline. Tried unplugging and plugging back in. Tried hitting the button on top once...to get into setup mode. Held the button for over 20 seconds to get it to factory reset, and nothing. The software update must have bricked the device. I talked with customer support and they were extremely nice and are sending me out a replacement unit.

My Indoor Cam right after the update attempt. I tried all of the troubleshooting steps to no avail. I did reach out to Support and was pretty much told that they can’t do anything for me. In fact, we have the annual plan and I am seriously considering not to renew it.
