Cam Battery Door Open
I have a very hard time getting the battery door to stay closed. I open it with the button on back of camera and try to close by holding both sides and pressing upward. Howevery it barely closes and will soon drop open. I have had to resort to using tape to keep door up. Is there a trick to keeping door shut?

We've got a brand new camera and no matter how many time we've tried, we get the same error message about the battery door open.

MHey neighbors! This should not be happening. The battery hatch should close easily and should not read as open once closed. Please keep in mind that a poor wifi signal strength can delay the reporting of the hatch being closed in the Ring app. If your RSSI is good, check the following: - Ensure the battery is all the way in the slot securely. - Check that there is no debris inside or around the hatch. - Close the hatch firmly to be sure the sensor knows it is closed. If you've tried the above and it still shows as open, please reach out to our [support team](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch) for more in-depth troubleshooting. Feel free to let us kow how it goes! :)

RI have the same problem. There is no debris, it just does not stay closed, wind or whatever. You unfortunately need to tape it closed. Not made very well.

MI have the same problem. The battery door will not stay shut. It seems like a poor design and I hope there is a fix for it. It’s pretty frustrating when you are just trying to do a quick battery change.

Hey neighbors! At this time, if your Spotlight Camera will not report the battery hatch as closed, please attempt the following: * Ensure there is no debris in the battery hatch and that the hatch is closed fully. It will make a clicking sound once lock and closed fully. * Press and hold the setup button on the Camera for 20 seconds to reset the device, then [reconnect your Ring device](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034825092-How-to-Reconnect-Your-Ring-Device-to-Wifi-or-Change-Your-Wifi-Network). If the above steps do not result in successful setup or operation of showing the battery hatch closed as after, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

The only way is use one battery. The problem is the firware bug for the batteries slots. No simple reset solve the issue. Only try to use one battery.

I’m a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and the main issue is a flimsy design of the plastic latch and catch. It’s simply a poor design and does not mechanical lock - not without a battle. Know several people with exact same problem. No amount of firmware updates / software updates etc will fix a MECHANICAL flimsy design. All affected units should be recalled in my opinion as their not fit for purpose.

I have the same problem. I have had this camera for about four years now. I have to slam it shut and sometimes it still takes 3 or 4 tries to get it to stay shut.
