adding an indoor camera when already have outside camera set up

I have an outdoor camera that has been set up. I purchased an indoor cam and want to know if I can set it up remotely. My brother is available to push the button on the indoor cam so the blue light comes on but I am a 1000 miles away with my phone. Does the phone have to be in close proximity to the new camera for it to be set up? Thanks
