Ring App
Live View not working
Either when I receive a ring at the doorbell, or if I try to view the live feed from my front door, I get Activating Device... I am able to watch the video feeds later via the Ring app, but not the live feed. I've read the suggestions on here. I updated my home wireless to Amplifi HD, which is excellent, and still getting "Activating Device..." Is my device defective, or is there some secret setting for my wireless that needs to be changed?

Let's get the issue fixed with iOS 13.5.1 and then we can start talking. There is a big issue but it seems like it's not being discussed.

AIt is weird. With subscription I am able to see live view even though my RSSI is -78!!!! without subscription it is completely unable to see live view!!! Does it mean I have to subscribe so I do not have problems with live view? Thank you.

THi @angela47. An [RSSI](https://community.ring.com/t/how-it-works-your-ring-device-rssi-good-vs-poor/229) of -78 is not very good. With this connection strength that low, it is expected to have an intermittent Live View. I would suggest making sure your router is out in the open to minimize [wifi interference](https://community.ring.com/t/device-tips-wifi-interference/221). You may need a wifi extender such as the [Chime Pro](https://ring.com/collections/accessories/products/chime-pro-gen2) to help achieve a better signal. I hope this information helps.

For those having issues, do you guys also have Comcast/Xfinity as your ISP? I’m also having the same issue with Live View.

After many hours of trying different settings I've found that if I disable the Customerisable Motion Detection Live View works ok, either opening from the app or via a notification. If you use the customised detection it's mainly miss with an odd hit from time to time. Seems to be dependant on how much of the field of view you are pointing at (although don't quote me on that).

MI tried what you said and after the next motion activation, the live-view problem was fixed. Appears there is indeed a bug with the app that the ring team needs to address. I hope they are reading this message and they will fix the bug for all of us!!!!

SFebruary 9th, 2022 - just in case it didn't post the date. I am reading this message from over a year ago and glad I did. I have four cameras and a doorbell and three of the cameras worked as did the doorbell however the fourth camera live view only worked on my computer, not my phone. I just toggled the very first button "Motion Detection" to off and immediately live view started working on my phone. I tested it by toggling it back on and live view still works. Not sure what the issue was but a problem that has been bothering me for over a month was fixed with a quick toggle off then back on. Thank you Chop2358 - or others if you were not the first to solve it - just the first response I read that fixed it.

Hello I’ve been having this same issue for a while but when i tried connecting my Ring doorbell my phone’s hotspot to test it live view worked pretty fine. I think the problem is from my router’s firewall settings. Anyway this out ... https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205385394-The-Protocols-and-Ports-Used-by-Ring-Devices And i hope it helps you all.
