False motion detection alert when app opened
ios

Hi Ring Community I’ve noticed an issue recently where I receive notifications that there is motion detected at my gate where I have installed a video doorbell (which has a rather poor connection due to distance from my router) whenever I open the ring app. This is problematic because I often open the app late at night to review the footage collected on all of my ring devices throughout the day, and as my video doorbell is connected to a chime pro in our house, this false notification sets the chime off, which sets the dogs off too! Is there a reason why this is occurring, and can it be addressed? Cheers Dimi

Same issue here... there is no nested alerts (recorded at a previous time). Likewise when we get this false alarm. (When opening the app) it alerts on multiple devices - do you really think an undelivered alert due to a "power saving" app would suddenly work (be delivered) through different devices?I'm quite disappointed that your customer support is just grabbing an old FAQ and pushing it out there. Did you ever follow up with the people who posted above? I'm sure they are still having the same issue. But you keep pushing 'its someone else's fault'

I agree - having the SAME issue. Receive motion alerts just fine, but each time I open the app - the alert goes off and there is no motion. No matter when I open the app. I would like to know why this is happening or how to stop it or else I will need to cancel my subscription.

I have the same problem starting within the last month. Checking history in the Ring app sets off the motion alarm. This happens on my iPhone and my wife’s android phone. Can’t check the app at night without waking up the house. Not sure how a video is going to provide anymore help. Am I supposed to video my wife checking her app and setting off the motion alarms?

Any resolution on this issue? I’m having the same problem as above and I have been for the last several months. A false motion alert is activated when I open up the app to check history. Doesn’t happen every time, but its often and it is irritating. I am getting legitimate motion alerts when they happen.

This thread seems to have gone dead a couple months ago with no resolution. I have been having the exact same issue (open app, false motion from doorbell, chime alert sets the dog off). I am running iOS 14.4.2, but have had the issue for a while. I have both a doorbell and a floodlight cam but only the doorbell (video doorbell 2, running on battery) activates the false motion when opening the app. Besides the chime triggering, both my phone and my wife’s phone receive a push notification of the false motion. We receive ALL other motion/ring notifications while the app is closed. Sooo.... any updates on this issue or is it still being investigated?

It just started for us. Out of the blue. Very annoying.
