During play, the play/pause and rewind/fast forward buttons stay on at the bottom of the video

This is happening on in the Android App (using Galaxy S10) and disappears after a few seconds, but blocks part of the recording and is very annoying. Does anybody know of there is a way to turn this feature off?

Good question @Spike1! While there is not a way to remove certain toggles or controls from the in app screen, the experience can certainly be altered depending on your method of review. For instance, if you view your events via the standard Event History list in your Ring app, viewing in portrait mode or rotating the mobile device for landscape view might have a different look. Additionally, when viewing a recording, you should be able to tap the center of the screen to prompt controls to appear/ disappear. If you are still looking for a different way of viewing videos, the timeline has additional controls available for quick review, in which the toggles should appear under the video field. I hope this helps! :)

Hi Marley, Event history automatically defaults to landscape mode and the buttons are automatically shown on the screen for a nominal period, which is unforunately at the start of the video and is very annoying as it blocks the bottom 25% of the viewing, which is basically in front of the doorbell. Tapping the screen does not remove the black band across the screen showing the buttons and is extremely annoying. Only live view/timeline shows in portrait mode which can then be tilted to show landscape mode, but this means that I have to scroll back to a particular event as opposed to clicking on the event in history.

Just to add onto this thread, I am having the same problem when viewing video footage on my galaxy phone. The playback button is in the way of the footage for the bottom part of the screen. The playback button goes away after 3-4 seconds but often whatever triggered the recording is gone from the view (for example our cat walking off the porch). Love to know if there was a way to have the playback toggle cascade manually or have the playback button off the screen?

Thank you for this update, neighbors! As long as your mobile device has screen rotation abilities, the event history should allow for a recording playback in both landscape and portrait. On IOS, I was able to pull up an event from the event history section, which remained in portrait mode. Unsure if this is different for Android but it should not be. Alternatively, if you are finding that the timeline operates more to your liking, the timeline view will allow you to jump to the desired date and quickly scroll through that day's events. There is also a filter in timeline view, to allow you to filter by event type (motion, live view, etc). As we always value our neighbors' feedback, if these options do not help you obtain the desired functionality, feel free to add this request on our [Feature Request Board](https://community.ring.com/c/products/feature-request-board/24). This way other neighbors can share their interest in one place, that we can organize and share with our teams here. :)

Not sure if there has been an update since the start of this thread but I am using a Galaxy S8 and during playback in landscape from either timeline or event log, if I tap the screen the buttons disappear - likewise if you press again they reappear.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Galaxy S10... It's extremely annoying. The control bar did not even disappear after a few seconds, but remained the entire 43 seconds of the recording... As the movement was taking place in the bottom section of the screen, this made the footage useless... Surely there's some workaround as this is a MAJOR FLAW
