Ring App
Android app constantly demanding login - why?
The Android app has started demanding that I log in almost every time I open it. What's going on? It never did this in the past.

The app still demands a full logon after every few invocations. I have to key in email address, strong password, and the 2-factor code to see if someone's at the door or it's just a stray cat. This has made my 3-camera Ring system essentially useless. The app is up-to-date, I don't use a VPN or AdGuard. I don't want to spend time on the phone waiting for support unless there's a chance of fixing this. Is this how the app currently works - requiring frequent logons? If there's something wrong with my setup I will try to troubleshoot. But if this is the new normal, I'll have to buy someone else's product. Can someone just tell me if this is normal behavior?

THi @JimHughes. This isn't expected behavior. Once logged into the Ring app, you should stay logged in. What Android OS do you have installed? Try clearing the data and cache for the Ring app on your phone. You can also use the [Control Center](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038142272-Ring-Control-Center-Information) in the Ring app to manage your authorized devices, which may improve your concern. Lastly, review the app permissions in your phone's settings to confirm that is not the issue.

Hi @JimHughes, happy to step in here. Tom mentioned the Control Center as a way to easily see which devices are signed into your Ring account. How often are you accessing the Ring app? If you sign in and then don't open the Ring app again for over a month, you will be logged out at that point and need to sign back in for security purposes. This behavior is intended. If you're accessing the Ring app regularly but still being signed out, this behavior is not intended. It might be some settings within your phone. I'd recommend checking the settings on your phone related to battery saving and data. What settings are available would vary based on which phone you have, but data or storage settings might be automatically clearing the app data and cache for your Ring app, which would result in you being logged out. Should this concern persist and you're unable to locate any settings within your phone that could potentially be the cause, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

I look at the app most days - or at least I used to before this problem appeared. And I was logged out again today. Not seeing anything in app or phone sertings that might relate. Please pass this on: I understand it's a complicated issue, but I don't need or want this level of security, if it's going to make the system such a pain that we basically just forget about it. There need to be some options here, to let users set a level of security that's appropriate to their situation. I may call the support number but I'm also looking for system that I can administer locally, without a cloud account. Sorry if I sound like a crank, but many today feel we're being two-factored to death and are looking for ways to reduce the need for logons, constantly changing passwords, 2-factor code etc etc in our everyday lives.

@JimHughes This is not the intended behavior of the Ring app, particularly if you are accessing it regularly after signing in and you're not clearing the app cache and data. The expected behavior is that after signing in and verifying your identity with the two-step verification code, you remain signed in when accessing the app on a regular basis. I checked with a member of my team who also has an Android device, and they weren't able to locate any settings that might cause app data to automatically be cleared, which is the only reason I can think of as to why you keep getting logged out. If you do reach out to our support team, feel free to share what solution they're able to find.

JThanks for the followup. But I have nothing to go on - no error message, no log file. And I'm logged out again today. I don't know what my next camera system will be, but it will have total local control. No more cloud accounts.

Hi @JimHughes. If you are getting logged out of the Ring app consistently, try the following steps: * Verify that your Ring app and phone are up-to-date with the latest updates. * Disable any active VPNs on your phone. * If you are using the AdGuard app on your phone, use this Help Center [page](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029428911-AdGuard-Causing-the-Ring-App-to-Log-Out) to learn what steps to take. If you have tried these steps and are still having the same concern, give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) for further assistance. If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.
