Ring Alarm
System Keeps Switching To Cellular Backup
My Ring security system keeps switching to cellular backup even though my Internet access is up & running. It will do this several times randomly throughout the day. It ALWAYS switches for exactly 2 minutes. Using an eero WiFi 6 router that is connected via ethernet cable to the modem (Motorola). I've reset the router several times (through the app & removed the power). No joy. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! I have Spectrum cable coming into a Motorola MB8611 modem. This modem does not have WiFi. There is an ethernet cable connecting the modem to the Ring Base Station. I have rebooted the router using the reset button so will see if that makes a difference. To setup a dedicated 2.4 Ghz network for the Base Station, I would need a different (or additional) modem, correct?

Hi @littletommy. I would first suggest making a dedicated 2.4 GHz network for your Base Station, or connect via ethernet. What connection do you currently have? You can also reboot your Base Station. Do this by briefly tapping the pinhole reset button. It's important to only tap, and not hold the button. Holding the button will initiate a factory reset of your Base Station.
