Question About Smoke Alarm and the Ring Base Station
I installed a smoke alarm in my home (First Alert Z-wave alarm) and had no issues connecting to the Base station via the Z-wave protocols. My question is: If the smoke alarm goes off, does it merely send a notification to my phone, or does it also trigger the louder Base Station alarm as well? Thanks, Jerry

This actually happened to me. Daughter came out of the bathroom after a shower and didn't use the exhaust fan. When she opened the bathroom door the humidity was enough to set it off. Not just the First Alert Smoke/CO detector but the Ring base station as well. I thought someone was breaking into my home because it's loud as hell and the same siren as if someone did break in. This really needs to be changed. If I'm sleeping and this happens I would literally be getting my gun to defend myself instead of getting out of the house because it's really a fire going on. How could they think using the same siren for a smoke/co detector as the security alarm would be a good idea.

Most important, the First Alert will sound its own internal siren. This is of course critical in case you are home and the whole Ring thing fails, you still have the First Alert siren sounding. It is a standalone sensor that happens to also sends a signal to the Ring base.
