Flood/Freeze Sensor Positioning

Would the flood/freeze sensor detect water if it were positioned on its side? I'd like to place it in my small laundry area, but space is tight and there is not enough room for the sensor to lie flat on its bottom. I could rest it on its side but want to make sure it would still detect a leak in that position.
