contact sensor low signal/battery drain
contact-sensor
I recently installed a ring alarm system with several contact sensors on doors and windows. One of the contact sensors immediately began complaining about having poor reception and drained the new battery within a few weeks. The same behavior exists when the sensor is only a few feet from the base station. Is it likely that the sensor is defective? Any procedures to follow to perform a braindead/cold reset of the device to see if it helps?

Hi @xcrracer. You can try factory resetting your Contact Sensor and seeing if this helps! I recommend to remove the device from your account first, then [perform a factory reset](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000071906-How-to-Completely-Reset-Your-Alarm-Devices), and after that, set it up again and watch it! If you still seem to experience this, please reach out to our support team [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch) for further troubleshooting. :smiley_cat:
