Ring Alarm
Contact Sensor Disappeared
I have ring alram setup for more than 1 year and all of sudden one of my door sensor disappeared from it. It was on back door and was set to trigger without any delay, someone opened the door and alram didn't trigger (it was in home mode and suppose to trigger alarm). I double checked and contact sensor is there on the door and missing in the app. It is security hazard. I don't know when it disappeared and what is wrong with it, there was no warning or indication and I am shocked that this would have created a threat during emergency. I tried manually and sensor doesn't even chirp anymore. I can't turst this system anymore. Any pointers? Thanks.

I had the same experience; a contact sensor disappearing from the system, which should never happen. Ring Support was unable to explain what would cause this anomaly. The solution was to add the Contact Sensor back into the Alarm System. In my case once it was successfully added back I received a low battery indicator. Low battery should not cause a properly designed alarm system to purge a device and leave the unsuspecting homeowner with a hole in there security system (I do not know if battery level was the cause of this anomalous behavior).

This same exactly behavior is still happening on the Ring Alarm System. I got a low battery alert, replaced the battery and the sensor completely disappeared from my list of sensors like it was never there.

Can confirm still happening (no low-battery warning and sensor only 10ft from alarm hub) - front door gen1 contact completely gone from system and had to re-add as a new sensor. Even my MQTT connection to ring still had the sensor listed (stuck on door open - 60%. battery) but instead of sensor info reading ok it said failed or something similar. This is highly unacceptable and of course happens to the most important door in the house. Also to add to the issues - this is the first time my Ring alarm cellular strength / signal is not connected/no signal. I haven't moved the hub from its central main floor location connected via hardwire ethernet since i got it Feb 2019. I would like a proper explanation of these two issues that have happened or are still happening in the case of the no cell signal for alarm backup.

I can confirm this is still happening. My front door sensor stopped chiming when open, went to check the device list and the sensor has disappeared. Completely unacceptable.

Hey @adawra. It sounds like there may be a concern with the sensor itself that should be looked at by our support team. Could you please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406)? If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support. They should be able to get this addressed for you!
