Baldwin smart lock support

Hi Ring Team, Would you support Baldwin smart locks in the Ring Alarm base station sometime in the future? Baldwin smart locks are also popular, I believe they are Kwikset rebrands (the internal control panel look the same) as the two brands are owned by the same company. So I guess it won't be too much work supporting Baldwin?

Hey @evanyang. Does Baldwin make Z-Wave smart locks? Since the Smart Locks connect to the Ring Alarm Base Station via Z-Wave, you will need to ensure that the lock you hope for us to verify as compatible is a Z-Wave lock. In addition, even if it's not compatible and listed as so on our website, you can always try to add a Z-Wave device to your Ring Alarm's Base Station, and if it connects, while it may have limited functionality, you can see if it works from the Ring app if it's a Z-Wave product! This will be added as Works with Ring device when setting it up in the app. :)

Yes, it's a Z-Wave smart lock and compatibable with other Z-Wave hubs such as Vera. The program buttons/switches inside the lock look idential to Kwikset products. I've tried adding as Works with Ring or Kwikset but it didn't work. So I hope Ring can support this brand specifically if possible.

@evanyang Thank you for giving it a try on adding the device! I will make sure to pass on your feedback to the appropriate teams of your want for having this lock integrated. As we value our neighbors' feedback, we've created a [Feature Request](https://community.ring.com/t5/Feature-Request-Board/idb-p/Feature_Request_Board) board. Feel free to add this and any future feature requests there. This will help us to organize and share your requests with our teams here, as well as allow other neighbors to comment and add interest, all in one place! :)

Baldwin locks (at least Zwave deadbolts) that were previously paired to a Vera or similar controller can be added to RIng only after first unpairing the door lock from the existing controller. Deleting the device from the existing controller will not work as the existing controller must be used to reset the Baldwin door look before pairing to the RIng controller. You then select a similar Quickset device in the Ring app. Note both the old controller and the Ring Base Unit must be about 12" from the door lock to do the removal and new set-up or else it will not be seen by either device. At least this process worked for me.

@calhocr1 So you were able to add a Baldwin Z-wave lock and have it work with ring app? Full functionality?

Has any progress been made here. I'm wanting to purchase a Baldwin Touchscreen, Z-wave compatibly handleset and use it with my Ring system. I'm having to use Baldwin because I'm replacing an old Baldwin handleset so I need the hardware cut outs to match.

@Chelsea_Ring what is the status of the feature request? I tried to pair Ring with a Baldwin lock. Ring paired with a Baldwin lock however it was unable to lock or unlock the lock. The lock received the command and it tried to lock but was unsuccessful. I think the integration has some issues.

Baldwin Locks is not listed as a [Works With Ring Alarm Lock](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017691131-Works-With-Ring-Locks-Compatible-With-Ring-Alarm) at this time. Check out the previous link for a list of compatible locks. Feel free to also check out our [Feature Request Board](https://community.ring.com/c/products/feature-request-board/24) to vote on requests and/ or make a new request. :)

For anyone wondering the solution. Baldwin locks as stated are not supported. Instead of waiting and probably never happening I used the Kwikset 914 dead bolt but only used the rear Z-wave portion. Bought the Baldwin handle set I wanted (baldwin prestige spyglass series for entry and side doors) and used the front of the baldwin deadbolt (just keyed entry portion alone, no touch screen from the kwikset) and used the kwikset unbranded rear z wave and battery portion so it could be controlled from ring. works flawlessly. You will need to temporarily hook up the kwikset keypad so it can learn the deadbolt position but once thats figured out just turn the bolt alarm off and disconnect and tuck the wire away. good to go smart baldwin lock that connects to ring with full support. I wish ring offered full support for the new 620 with the 700 series z wave chip. Only thing I didnt like about the 620 from kwikset is the very white kwikset logo on the back portion. thats why I ended up with the 914. looks clean! ![IMG_9990|666x500](upload://mfk6Tociu4BAwZBgBu3esF7xBSM.jpeg)
