Does anyone know how to set up a doorbell to work without a subscription?

Hey there, @Lake! Our devices do not require a subscription to operate. The [Protect Plan](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005020643-Ring-Protect-Subscription-Plans) subscriptions are useful for saving recordings and obtaining other Protect Plan features. Without a Protect Plan subscription, you will still be able to setup your Ring device, receive alerts, and even answer live events when they happen. I hope this helps! :)

Thanks. I saw that somewhere in the literature but not how to make it work. Since the subscription expired, there has been nothing from the doorbell. I tried setup but it says it detects nothing on the net. It has been only a month since the battery was fully charged

Thanks for the update on this! Despite not having a Protect Plan subscription, much of the other Doorbell's functionality should work as intended. The best next step here will be to charge your Video Doorbell battery for several hours. Then, bring the fully charged Doorbell inside near your wifi router. Once there, please confirm the Doorbell is online by triggering a live view from the Ring app. Live video should connect as intended. If it does not, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. If you are outside of the US, please read our response to COVID-19 [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360041597471) to see how to contact support.
