I know I'm VERY late to this discussion, but I saw that no one provided the solution here so I found the fix and thought it may help others searching for it later. The ring camera needs a local IP Address outside of the DHCP. That way it's not being blocked by the router. Basically, you'll go into your router settings (usually by typing 192.168.0.1 into your browser but it can vary depending on the router) and limit the DHCP (the ip addresses available for your phones, computers ect) to 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.199. Then you'll assign the Ring device to 192.168.0.200 or any number available above 192.168.0.199. There's lots of information online on how to do that for different routers. But thats whats needing to be done here cause it's being blocked from communicating outside of the network due to being inside the DHCP. This COULD be fixed by Ring but seeing how they have't done it yet and it's about 3 years since this post was made, it's at least an easy fix.

Let me take a shot at this . . . 1) Your Ring doorbell should be connected to your home wifi 2) You install the Ring App on your mobile phone, and sign in to your Ring Account 3) You should then be able to open the Ring App when away from home and see your account and your device, one of which should be your doorbell Stop - - - if you cannot get through Step 3, then there is an install or account issue 4) After Step 3 works, you just need to make sure your alterts are set properly in the App, and your phone is allowing the alters, then everything should work. Hope that helps.
