Ring not charging

My ring doorbell has recently stopped charging, even though it was hardwired. After changing, the AC adapter still does not charge all the voltage is correct. After speaking with customer support I was advised that they have disabled the hardwired function on my app as it is a first generation. I was then told I needed to buy a new unit.
