Ring app update on Apr 15 2025 drops support for all iPhones older than iPhone 11

Latest Ring app requires ios 17, which is only available for iPhone 11 or later. The existing app will not run until updated, thus suddenly depriving all users of older iPhones from accessing their Ring doorbells. Tech support had no solution to offer.

Reading reviews of several competing video doorbells on pcmag.com recent article "The Best Video Doorbells for 2025". So far, their overall pick, Arlo Video Doorbell, provides an app on Apple that successfully installs on my iPhone 8 running iOS 16.
