Pro Power Kit v3 causes LEDs in mechanical chime to not illuminate
We recently purchased a new Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and a new mechanical chime mfg by Craftmade. The mechanical chime contains 8 little LEDs which cause the unit to glow beautifully at night. With just the Doorbell Pro 2 installed, the lights work as they should, but when I add the Pro Power v3, the lights no longer illuminate. I’d like to try connecting the Pro Power Kit “in line” with the front door wire as opposed to bridging between the transformer and front door terminals to see if this would allow the LEDs to function. It’s not clear exactly what the power kit is and does. The best info I’ve been able to find online indicates that it contains a small 1a fuse and a resistor. I even called Ring tech support, their level 1 people couldn’t seem to even grasp what I was talking about. Any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to read my question!

Sorry for the slow reply. The chime is an ICH1520-OB. It’s the same chime unit as the CH1520, except the unit has LED lights which glow (behind the covers glass). If the Pro Power Kit is just a fuse and a capacitor to ensure power while the chime is ringing, then installing the kit inline instead of bridged across the trans & front terminals should work. If it does switching or something else with the power, then I could see where that wouldn’t work. Hard to see where it could be syphoning off enough power that the LEDs can’t work, but I guess anything is possible. Just got to figure out how to get power to them without smoking anything.

C@user79031 Thank you for sharing which model it is. I checked with my team on this, and it’s not recommended to install the Pro Power Kit differently than the instructed. It’s your choice to try and install the Pro Power Kit differently than advised, but you may void your doorbell’s warranty.

Hi @user79031. The Pro Power Kit is required to ensure your Wired Doorbell Pro is receiving the appropriate amount of power. The Pro Power Kit should be installed according to the instructions found here. What is the specific model of this chime kit? If possible, can you please share a picture of how the Pro Power Kit is installed? I’m happy to look into what information I can find regarding your model of chime kit.
