New Video doorbell need to charge

Is it normal to have to charge up the video doorbell before you can do the setup and install? It would make sense that you would need to, but I don't see anywhere in the setup guide or the documentation that says to charge before starting installation. I get to the part about pusing the orange button on the back and nothing happens. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't supposed to have a charge to start with and if there is something wrong with the one I bought.
