New Doorbell Wired Motion Zones discrepancy

I just wanted to ask the community if any of you who bought the new Ring Doorbell Wired has noticed the same thing. Under Motion Settings, the preview shows the full field of view of the camera. But when I tap the [Edit Motion Zones] button and it goes to the next screen where you can edit, create, and delete zones, the upper part of the field of the camera is gone. This means that I'm losing a good 1/4 to 2/3 of my camera's field in that particular screen when setting up the motion zones. And I've been having problems with the motion alerts. I don't get any alerts unless I open the door from the inside, or the person is standing basically at the door or too close to it. I have also had to set the motion sensitivity to the maximum and unlinked my doorbell from my Ring lights for it to send the motion alerts (and only when the person is close to the door.) And I had to also turn the People Only Mode off. So after I did all that, then it started to detect anybody at the door, so long as they are within 2-3 feet of my door or directly standing at it. Otherwise, nothing. Since switching from my old Ring doorbell to this one, I have completely lost the ability to receive notifications when I get deliveries, which is one of the main reasons why I always had the Ring doorbell because we receive packages frequently at home. I've been on the phone with support many times now. I have tried everything they told me. I installed the corner kit, tested at night (they told me that the contrast between my dark porch and the bright street could be causing the issues, but this is also happening at night and on cloudy days.) They now want me to install it higher. How am I supposed to do that? Drill a hole in my walls and call an electrician to extend my doorbell wires? I didn't have to do that with my previous doorbell! I'm very frustrated. If my previous doorbell wouldn't have died on me, I would have not bought this one. I was excited about this doorbell because I live in cold climate and I didn't want to have to deal with a battery with this model. Now I feel I want to return it. But my previous doorbell is dead. So I can't put that one back. This is ridiculous. You cant have a customer in freezing temperatures installing and uninstalling doorbells to press reset buttons and test everything on your testing book! Ideas anybody? I'm attaching screenshot of what I see in the application and I believe this is one of the main causes for my failed motion alerts. And probably the sensor, too. I just installed mine, and I confirm the top part of the view is cut off in the motion zone editing view. I'm still testing it, but I agree that the motion detection on this device seems to be rather weak. It doesn't seem to detect more than 5-6 ft away no matter how vast your detection zones are set. I've also noticed that instead of recording motion events for the full length of time that you've set it to record in the video settings, it will stop recording as soon as it senses the motion has stopped. If you use Ring lights to motion-sense and trigger the doorbell cam early, you need to activate and rely on the motion notifications from that light group. So you can get notified, but I too find this not ideal and would prefer the camera itself to send an alert that it's been triggered to record.

Hi neighbors! Motion zones can not be extended to the full area of your Live View when creating these zones. This is because the area your camera covers is slightly larger than the area your motion sensors cover. I hope this helps clear things up. :)

hey guys I purchases a ring video doorbell wired too and I am having the same issue. the motion sensor is weak, and doesn't detect persons if they are not at the doorbell. I tried everything with customer service. I even got a replacement and the replacement has the same issue. I had a pro before and the pro works great for motion. I think this will be my last ring product. The pro that I had bricked in the first week of installation.

Hi @kemistrypops. In order to receive assistance here in the community, we need some more details about the concern you're having as well as some of the troubleshooting steps you've taken. It also helps if you can post a picture or screenshot of your doorbell's view, as well as tell how high it is mounted. I also suggest creating a new topic about your concern, to help get the right traction on your post.
