New device registered to an unknown person

I recently purchased a home with a ring attached. The house was a rental and tenants are long gone. Is there any way to register this ring onto my account without requiring assistance from the previous tenants? Or do I simply need to purchase a new doorbell?

I had the exact same circumstance. Have to purchase your own ring camera OR wait until the device on your house has not been"online" or "used" for 30 consecutive days, in which case you can call customer service and claim it as your own device.
