Horrible battery life after solar added

Hi all. So I wanted to try to improve battery life On my earlier generation doorbell and so I bought the solar charging base. After installing it my battery life has gone from mediocre to atrocious. I now have recharge my ting every week at least. I wanted to take the solar panel base off and reinstall the ring to the original bracket but now I no longer have it. Kind of a pain to say the least. Anyone else deal with anything similar? Thanks!
