Ring Video Doorbell
Hardwiring a Ring 2 Doorbell
I have hardwired my Ring 2 Doorbell but it won't ring my existing chimes. If I remove the Ring 2 and short the wires then it rings. My existing bell push has an 8v transformer I was expecting to just disconnect the old bell push and connect the Ring 2. Is there something else i should be doing?

I have the same problem. I have a 16v transformer. The bell rings when I touch the two wires. When I attach the wires to Ring 2 and push the button, silence. What else do I need to be sure to do before this will work? I'm tired of recharging batteries; they are slow and then I forget them. I want my video doorbell to work for me.

Hi @user40777. Hardwiring a battery powered Doorbell, like the Video Doorbell 2, will provide it with a trickle charge to help extend the amount of time between recharges. The chime kit in your home should also ring when the button on the Doorbell is pressed, as long as the chime kit is compatible. You can find the chime kit compatibility list [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003008663-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2-Chime-Kit-Compatibility-List). If your chime kit is not listed as compatible, that is likely why it is not ringing when the button is pressed. If your chime kit is listed as compatible, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) for further assistance with this. If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

Hi @IanVincent. Also check to see if you have the correct settings in the Ring app. These settings can be found under Device Settings > General Settings. You'll need to make sure you have the correct Chime Kit selected.
